Barn Wedding Photography- Christina & Ian

by

Christina & Ian’s Barn Wedding Photography was staged in a gorgeous purpose-built barn styled venue in the heart of The Cotswolds, just outside the tiny village of Blackwell.

We met in the Spring of the same wedding year to go through the detail of their shoot agenda. We sat up top of the barn balcony with our coffees going through note books and albums for inspiration together. Ian was pretty quiet but I hadn’t met with him before. After an hours consultation meeting we descended the spiral staircase and started to explore the location for suitable photo framing opportunities. There were just so very many! Blackwell Grange is build for photos and the most perfect of light conditions.  From the hobbit door way which you can photograph shooting through and then in front of, to the Potting Shed and the actual barn and outbuildings.

My methodology as always is to watch and observe and let the positions just come to the couple and to capture them through the lens in natural quiet moments together.

Fast forward to their day and a hive of activity in the Potting Shed where the girls dress and prepare. The thing I love so much about the Potting Shed is all the mirrors. It is a blessing and a curse because they reflect so much light and so many possibilities. I have to check every mirror in shot to see what is actually reflected and in the picture, things and people, parts of the room that you don’t want to see and also me!

I do love the little private dressing area at the back of the Potting Shed as it is full of beautiful natural light, plus the bride can see herself and every angle of that show stopping dress before leaving. It is also an awesome area for photos.

We leave and the walk to the barn takes just a few minutes but this lovely high ceiling building , has a cathedral quality of space and it’s just uncluttered and super modern and very stylish.

Christina looked so beautiful, the best girls stunning and Ian really handsome. I loved that we had some of the best speeches ever including one from the best girl who turned stereotypes around by thanking the grooms men for looking so handsome the day’, typically a comment made by the best man to the bridesmaids.
