I met Rowena and James at an Ettington Park Hotel weddings open-day. I immediately liked them, they were warm and uncomplicated. They just seemed totally ecstatic, much in love in the way they kept looking and smiling at each other and were clearly excited about their forthcoming wedding.
Ettington Park Hotel Weddings
Ettington Park is a spectacular neo-Gothic mansion situated six miles from Stratford-upon-Avon in the picturesque Stour Valley.
The Shirleys, one of Warwickshire’s oldest families, owned Ettington for many years. Their lineage can be traced back over a thousand years. There is also archaeological evidence that there has been human habitation in the area for at least 2,000 years. It is very much possible that a Roman villa once existed on the site of the Ettington Park Hotel, which since that time has undergone many transitions.
Ettington Park Hotel has long had a reputation for being one of the most haunted hotels in the UK .
Ettington Park Hotel weddings offers many venues within it’s acres of grounds and gothic house, all with character, all with great views and vistas to choose from and with careful planning a wedding day can have many varied and interesting settings.
Rowena and James chose to have an afternoon tea underneath large sprawling deciduous trees near to the woodland area of Ettington. A long white table carefully dressed with a woodland theme napkin rings and a drinks table nearby. Then a second venue and wedding breakfast to eat later in the day in one Eddington’s most haunted rooms, the Long Gallery at the top of the house. The Long gallery lined with bookcases on either side and a centre wedding breakfast table.
The couple were married in the Bell Tower, part of the ruins of the old chapel and a gorgeous outside ceremony venue. The couple marry underneath the tower and look up into arches which make great photo back drops. It’s a quiet part of the park, secluded and private and makes a lovely setting for a more intimate wedding. The couple can then use the Norman-style chapel door and exterior for photos.
