Sally & Emma – creative wedding photography -East meets West
by
Sally & Emma, what a couple! So much energy (that’s Sally) and beautiful gentle smiles and a natural quietness (that’s Emma), their kindness and love for each other and life was just incredible. I really looked forward to photographing their same-sex wedding and the East meets West of their original nationalities. This couple were so natural around each other it was easy to provide creative wedding photography on their day.
I met these girls to discuss and shoot a rehearsal shoot in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon. They were immediately so easy to be around and very quickly we all became friends. They both had careers in literature, Sally PHD, head teacher and author and Emma an English teacher, favourite novel, The Moonstone- Wilkie Colins (also one of mine)!
We talked and talked far too long over coffee which the girls insisted upon paying for. Then we took a walk down to the river, through a park, passed the church, concluding outside aging Tudor houses. Along the way, we shot everything, utilising pretty much every bench, water’s edge and tree. I could see they could do no more and I had exhausted all my ideas and so we parted until their big day.
These girls were all about laughter, hugging and impromptu moments to which they would laugh, sigh and just look at each other. They told me afterwards they had had ‘ one of the best days of their lives’ and I really felt I had done very little to deserve such high praise. They wanted natural photos and they gave me plenty of opportunity to shoot and creative wedding photography was theirs on the day.

The sun shone down as these girls pledged their vows to each other in the bell tower at Ettington Park. They were just thoroughly gorgeous to be around and work with and their families totally lovely.
